A Study on Poetics of Lin Yu-tang’s Six Chapters of a Floating Life from the Perspective of Reflection Theory_英语论文

摘要

《浮生六记》是清朝扬州人沈复著于1808年的自传体散文，第一次于1878年在上海申报馆出版，立即引起巨大反响。100多年后，翻译家林语堂于1935年8月在天下月刊开始连载译文，再次引发学者们以及大量普通读者的关注。后该译本于1939年由上海西风社首次版出，于1941年再版。

本文拟对《浮生六记》及林语堂译本进行分析，从诗学折射理论出发，探讨性灵诗学对《浮生六记》及林语堂翻译的影响，以及它怎样成全林语堂对“个性”即“自我表达”的追求。

Abstract

Six Chapters of A Floating Life is Shen Fu’s autobiographical prose. The prose was first published by Shen Daily Press in 1878 and rapidly caused a huge storm in the society. After over one hundred years, Lin Yu-tang translated the touching story into English and it began to be serialized in T’ien Hsia Monthly in 1935, which regained wide readership. The English version was first published by Shanghai West Wind Press in 1939 and then reprinted in 1941.

This thesis intends to analyze Six Chapters of A Floating Life and Lin’s version from the perspective of poetics reflection theory, discuss the influence of xingling poetics on Lin Yu-tang's translation and explore how it fulfills Lin Yu-tang's pursuit of "self".
