Abstract:

With the development of science and technology and China’s entry into WTO, trade exchange between China and foreign countries has been increasing, and medicine exchange between China and other countries is no exception. Medicine is closely related to people’s daily life; and the export of Chinese medicine plays an important role in the medicine industry, so the study of the medicine instructions is of great significance. Over the last years, many scholars have researched the stylistic features of cosmetic instructions, advertising slogans and some other texts of instructions. However, few scholars study the stylistic features of the medicine instructions. Therefore, this paper is intended to explore the stylistic features of medicine instructions. Medicine instructions, as a branch of English for a special purpose, have unique linguistic features. Based on the study of 25 translated medical instructions and consultation of a number of references, the paper is intended to make a tentative analysis of the stylistic features of English medicine instructions from the lexical, syntactic and discourse angles. This study contributes to the correct understanding and translation of medicine instructions.

摘要：

随着科技的发展以及中国加入WTO后，中国与世界各国的贸易往来日益增加，中外的医药交流也越来越频繁。药品与人们的生活息息相关，中国药品的出口在医药产业中有着十分重要的作用，因此对药品说明书的研究有着十分重要的意义。近几年来，许多学者研究过化妆品说明书的文体特征，广告语的文体特征及其他说明书的文体特征，然而，却很少有人研究过药品说明书的文体特征。因此，本文将对药品说明书的文体特征进行研究与分析。药品说明书作为专门用途英语的一个分支，有其独特的语言特征。本篇文章以25篇常见的药品说明书作为分析材料，并参阅了大量相关书籍和资料，分别从词汇、句法和语篇三个层面分析其文体特征；该研究有助于人们正确理解和翻译英文药品说明书。

1 Introduction
With the flouring development of our country’s economy, especially after joining the WTO, the import and export of medicines have been increasing dramatically. English medicine instructions, as important reference resources of offering drug information and guiding people how to take medicine correctly, have significant meanings. Medicine instructions are different from other instructions, such as cosmetic instructions, and the accurate understanding and grasping of their meanings is related to people’s life and death, so any mistakes in understanding it should be avoided as possible as we can. Being familiar with basic structures and language features of the medicine instructions contributes to the correct understanding and translation of them, which helps to prompt its proper use and prosperity.
