Abstract:

Like most fairy tales, Sleeping beauty tells us a romantic story of a prince and a princess with a happy ending; Maleficent is a revised story on the basis of the sleeping beauty. The film tells that the witch, Maleficent, made a vicious curse on the king’s daughter, Aurora, in order to make a revenge to the king, Stefan.The witch had been supervising the little princess’ private life and watched her grow up day by day and became closely concerned with the little princess. She loves aurora like a mother who loves her own daughter. And this love finally enabled Maleficent to give up her revenge.In the film Maleficent,the prince's kiss no longer works, and only the kiss from Maleficent can really wake up the princess. It broke the original relationship between the characters in the film. However,people also can feel the sincere love of the witch to the princess. This paper will give a general introduction about two films, and mainly analyze personality of characters in Maleficent.  Then,make a detailed comparison of the two different interpretation of true love, elaborate people’s different understanding on true love and people’s yearning for good things.

《睡美人》与其他童话故事一样讲述的是王子、公主的浪漫邂逅与幸福结合；而电影《沉睡魔咒》是在《睡美人》的基础上改编而来。电影讲述的是女巫玛琳菲森为了报复人类王国的国王对她造成的伤害，给国王女儿奥罗拉公主下了恶毒的诅咒。女巫一直暗中看着小公主长大并且与她变得难舍难分。这种类似于母女的情感让玛琳菲森放弃了复仇。在电影《沉睡魔咒》中，王子的吻不再奏效，玛琳菲森的吻才让公主苏醒。它突破了原作中的人物关系，也让人感受到女巫对公主真挚、浓郁的爱。本课题首先对两部电影做一个介绍，然后重点分析电影《沉睡魔咒》中人物的性格，对比两部作品中对于真爱的不同诠释，分析人们对于真爱的不同理解，阐述人们对于美好事物的憧憬和向往。

Introduction
The sleeping beauty, a famous fairy tale, was well-known to us. The little  princess is cursed by a witch. On her sixteenth birthday she will prick her finger on a spinning wheel and fall into a deep sleep, she won’t wake up until she gets the prince’s true love’s kiss.Maleficent is adapted on the basis of the sleeping beauty. It has completely changed people's memories, the development of the plot of the film is no longer limited to the general fairy tale.
When you have a first look at the poster of Maleficent, you can not relate them to the classic fairy tale Sleeping Beauty. Unless you are very familiar with this story and you will recognize that she is the villain witch through her creepy horns and sculpted cheekbones. In the film, Maleficent is a powerful witch who is betrayed and cheated by Stefan, a man she loved. When Stefan becomes the king and tried to kill her, Maleficent begins to revenge, she curses Princess Aurora and sets about to make her life a misfortune. From here, the fairy tale gets a reversal. Instead of being the simple villain that we know, Maleficent soon gets a heart-of-gold reincarnation and reconsiders her evil intention.
