摘要

 从字面意义上来说，口音是同一语种里特有的发声方式，它往往与社会团体、地域或者阶级相关联。每一个人都有属于自己的特定口音，但在某些语言中也有所谓的标准口音之说，不过这些标准口音多半不是自然演化的成果，而是人为的创造。现代的英国仍旧是一个阶级负担沉重的社会。口音在英国人的社会生活中有其独特的地位，他们相信，你很难从一个人的相貌判断他的出身、籍贯和阶级背景，但是可以从他的口音听出这一切。一个人的口音等于向世人诏告他的出身背景，包括他的成长环境、教育程度乃至他的社会阶层。论文通过对比英国贵族阶级口音和平民口音来分析英国社会不同社会地位和地域分布对其不同阶级口音的影响。

Abstract

Literally speaking, accent is a special terms of pronunciation. It always connects with social party, region and class. Everyone has their unique accent, but there are standard accent exist in the same language system. It’s not come from the natural evolution but human-being. Modern British is still a heavy-laden country with the social classes. Accent has a special position in the British social life. They believe that you couldn’t judge a person from their birth, native place and status background but from their accent. The accent is equal to tell others your birth background, including growth environment, educational degree, even the social class. This paper is a comparative research of accent between British aristocracy and civilian class by the different regional distribution and social status.
