摘要

英语新闻标题是英语新闻不可缺少的一个部分，一个好的标题能够起到画龙点睛，直击主题，吸引读者眼球的作用，而歧义的运用，更使得英语新闻标题增添一层生动，多一层意境，让人们阅读以后回味无穷，所以灵活的运用歧义，能让原本死板的新闻标题焕然一新，近年来对于英语新闻标题中的歧义现象的研究也日渐增多。本文主要从英语新闻标题本身具有的语言特点，以及英语歧义现象的角度来分析英语新闻标题中的歧义现象，并结合英语新闻标题的翻译理论来分析研究英语新闻标题的歧义现象的语用功能。

Abstract

An English news headline is one part of the English news，and a good title can make the finishing point, hit the theme, and attract the reader's attention. The application of ambiguity will make the title more vivid and make readers feel unforgettable, so the flexible using of ambiguity can make the originally rigid headlines look brand-new. In recent years, some researchers began to study the ambiguity in English news headline. This paper analyzes the ambiguity in English news headline mainly by the characteristics of the title itself and the ambiguity of English language, at the same time, combining with the translation of English news headlines, this paper analyzes the ambiguity in English news headline and its pragmatic function.

1 Introduction
    Ambiguity is a common phenomenon in language, however, things are relative, there is personality behind language universals, different language has different structures (pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar), the different nationality's language habits and way of thinking is also different, so different language ambiguity is also generated by the different English news report. The title plays an enrichment roll in news report, so it is particularly important to understand the ambiguity in English news report, the ambiguity is a common phenomenon in human languages.(宋坤 2007:2) Although there are different languages, and also the ways of causing the ambiguity are different, the existence of ambiguity is a real fact.(郑海翠 2002:8)This paper argues that English news headline plays a very important role in understanding the theme and content of the whole news report. So it is an important topic to know and learn the ambiguity in English news headline.
