摘要

论文从语用学的角度出发,讨论了隐喻作为一种有效的方法被应用于新闻标题当中。在作者的观点看来,隐喻能使新闻标题更具吸引力和说服力。往往越是成功的隐喻,其相似性越具有新奇性,越能激起人们的兴趣。通过给出的有关隐喻的明确定义,作者把隐喻化的新闻标题分为三大块。同时,作者发现在中文新闻标题中隐喻的四个功能并透过语用学中的认知、关联等两个角度探讨如何把新闻标题中的包含的隐喻信息传达给读者。

Abstract

The present paper discusses, from the pragmatic point of view, the metaphor used as an effective method in news headlines. In the author’s opinion, metaphors make the news headlines more attractive and persuasive. More successful metaphors tend to be, more its similarity and more capable of arousing people's interest. By giving clear definitions regarding metaphors, the author divides the types and metaphor news headlines into three types. At the same time the author found 4 functions of the metaphor in Chinese headlines and explores how to convey the metaphors included in the news headlines to the readers through two angles: cognitive and association in pragmatics.

1. Introduction
In this introduction chapter, the author first gives the purpose of the present study and then briefly described the methodologies used in the study. Finally, in order to present a clear idea regarding the present research, the author specified the thesis statement and the structure of the present paper.
1.1 Purpose of the present paper
We are in the age of news, news help human society evolution. Whether the happiness which Gangnam Style gives us or the angry that Diaoyu Islands event brings us, we all get the information in the first place. So the media have become the stage to put on a show about all the stuff like politics, economy, culture, science and technology, and even the whole society. As we all know, the news headlines must be attractive. Like experience to people, therefore someone regard the headlines of news as an eye to a human. If the headline is not attractive enough, the reader will just ignored the article no matter how great the passage actually is. When reading news online, we always read the headlines first. Sometimes a headline combine with metaphor will make people feel simple and accurate. It is very clear to express an abstract conception via metaphor, because it will help the reader to understand the conception by compare it with another real thing. Obviously, we can found metaphor became so popular when in contrast to a regular headline, readers found it easier to understand the headlines through the existing knowledge and experience of life. Further more, as a key part in articles. News headline is a good topic for us to discuss about its pragmatics meaning.
