Abstract

The Kite Runner has been set as an excellent example of initiation story. It tells a story about the initiative process of an Afghan boy whose name is Amir. On the basis of definition of “initiation story”, the author tries to point out the reflection initiation story in The Kite Runner from several aspects. Frist, from aspects of the definition, development process and features of initiation story to confirm that The Kite Runner is an typical example. While redemption, as the growth means, it can not be avoided. It is the fault of religion and lack of father’s love that unfortunately leads to Amir’s sin. But luckily with the help of awareness of morality, his huge personal courage and detached spirit, Amir finally achieves initiation by a ritual way. The essence of this essay is to reflect the both good and evil humanity and to deliver the correct values naturally. What’ more, providing useful enlightenment for the development of growth of youth.

摘 要

《追风筝的人》被认为是成长小说的一个典型例子。这部小说讲的是一个叫做阿米尔的阿富汗小男孩的成长故事。本文在已有的成长小说相关的理论基础上，通过研究成长小说的运行机制，分析成长小说的定义，其发展过程和基本特点来论证《追风筝的人》是为典型的成长小说。救赎，作为实现成长的一个手段，是不可避免的。在阿米尔的原罪原因被分析后，索性在其自身的觉醒下，通过一种流血的方式实现自我救赎。本文通过对这几个方面的分析，从而论证即使阿米尔在最初的成长道路上犯过大错，他最终还是真正的成长了。作者希望读者能通过阅读本文更好地理解什么是正确的价值观和真正的成长，并引起读者对青少年成长过程的足够重视。

1 Introduction
Khaled Hosseini is an Afghan-American new writer who used to be a general dentist. After the publication of The Kite Runner which is his first novel written in English since 2003, the novel has been spoken highly and become an international bestseller. At the same time, the author proves to be a dark horse in writing and himself turns form an unremarkable doctor to the international best-selling writer.
The Kite Runner, as the masterpiece of Hosseini, tells a story of an Afghan immigrant named Amir who makes mistakes and betrays his friend because of his cowardice in childhood. When he grows up, he finally returns to hometown to do redemption. To some extent, it is a journey of humanity.
