摘    要

《德伯家的苔丝》是托马斯•哈代的著名小说之一，它讲述了单纯、美丽的女主人公苔丝遭遇诱奸，最终走向毁灭的人生悲剧。虽然她作出了反抗，然而身处于男权社会，苔丝的结局仍以悲剧而告终。
本论文的目的在于通过分析《德伯家的苔丝》小说，从女性视角分析男权主义下的婚姻秩序。论文分为五个部分：
第一部分分析《德伯家的苔丝》创作的时代背景以及男权主义在维多利亚时代的体现；第二部分主要结合《德伯家的苔丝》探讨在维多利亚时代女性的身份地位；第三部分分析苔丝作为一个新女性，包括她对命运的反抗以及她在作者哈代眼中的“纯洁”；第四部分从女性视角分析在男权主义下的婚姻秩序，包括男女的不同道德标准以及苔丝的婚姻悲剧。
本论文认为，在男权占绝对统治地位的社会环境下，女性受虚伪的传统的道德的羁绊十分严重，即便女性在不公平的道德标准下无奈地反抗，但社会传统道德使女性在婚姻秩序中仍然处于被动与屈服的局面。

ABSTRACT

Tess of the D’Urbervilles is one of Thomas Hardy’s excellent novels, which describes the heroine’s love tragedy. The heroine, Tess, who is simple and pretty, is seduced by a shameless man and deserted by another man whom she loves very much. Though Tess has rebelled against her bitter fate, in a man-dominated society, she remains a tragic heroine.
The purpose of this thesis is to explore the marriage order under the male chauvinism from women’s point of view on the basis of Tess of the D’Urbervilles. It is divided into four chapters.  The first chapter is about the background of the creation of Tess of the D’Urbervilles and the prevailing of male chauvinism in Victorian time. In the second chapter, the female’s identity and survival in the male power culture that Tess of the D’Urbervilles describes will be revealed. The third chapter discusses Tess as a new woman, including her fight against fate and her purity in Hardy’s eyes. The fourth chapter is to discuss the marriage order from female perspective, including the different standards for men and women and Tess’s tragic marriage.
The thesis concludes that under the male chauvinism, even if women fight against the fate, they are still in passive subservience to the unfair conventional social values.
