Abstract:

Most of Lessing's work is about woman. She pays attention to women's life and their inner world. The writers’ mind is closely connected with their experience. Lessing is a greater writer who has rich experience. When she is old, she shows strong sympathy towards the weak female group and displays a distinctive feministic view toward the society in her works, trying her best to raise the public’s attention to the issues of woman. In Doris Lessing's short story，An Old Woman and Her Cat，describes a semi—gipsy old woman's pathetic life .Instead of living with their children and enjoying a relatively peaceful ending as many traditional old people, this woman prefers to depend on herself and live alone .From the feminist point of view ，the old  woman's struggles carry meaning and significance: It is an encouraging career for women to seek for spiritual freedom and other’s respect. This paper describes the life experience of Lessing and introduces the feminist perspective reflected in the story. By the means of choosing proper characters, presenting the symbolic meaning and the concern towards the western society, this paper tries to analyze writer’s feminist perspective. Lessing, as a female writer, she cares about the female, she makes great effort to raise the public’s awareness of the weak woman’s inner world which is thirsty of happiness, freedom and love.

摘  要：

多丽丝•莱辛的作品大多数是女性题材的，她关心女性的生活和她们的内心世界。作者的思想与她的经历密切相关。多丽丝•莱辛是一个拥有丰富阅历的伟大作家。当她老的时候，她对相对来说处于弱势的女性群体给予强烈的同情，并且在其作品中，她用特别的女性主义视角看这个社会，她尽力把公众的注意力集中到女性上来。在莱辛的短篇小说——老妇人和猫，描述了一个半吉普赛血统的老妇人的悲惨的命运，老妇人选择了靠她自己的努力独自生活，而非与孩子相伴，如很多传统妇女一样相对安宁地度过晚年。从女性主义的观点来说，老人的挣扎意义深远，因为女性寻找精神的自由与他人的尊重是件鼓舞人心的事情。此文介绍了作者的生平经历和小说中的女性主义思想。此文试着从小说的主角设计和深刻的象征意义，作者的社会担忧这些方面解读女性主义思想的。最后是莱辛作为一位女性作家对社会的担忧，希望引起社会对孤独而柔弱，但内心渴望自由与快乐，渴望爱的细腻而敏感的女性的关注。
