Abstract:

Gone with the Wind is the first and only novel written by the American female writer Margaret Mitchell (1900-1949). It was published in 1936 and became very popular with the readers. The novel was wide spread around the world and then was made into a very successful movie. Gone with the Wind, was one of the most classic love stories in the history of literature, and later, a successful movie starring Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable which was such a success that it became almost insurmountable in the history of movie making. With the American civil war as the background, the main line of the story is the marriage of a beautiful and willful girl named Scarlett and her struggle in her life, accompanied by great social and historical changes. The story successfully portrays many southern characters at that time, of whom the most representative is Scarlett, Rhett, Ashley, and Melanie. The novel successfully reproduce the social life of the age in the southern area of the United States. The most attractive element of the story is Scarlett's personality and her love story. Many people would ask: why her love story is so compelling? The reason is that the story is very true to life. Truth may not be so noble, but closer to people's lives, and therefore the story has been very warmly received by readers. This paper is chiefly devoted to the character analysis of Scarlett as well as other major characters in the novel. It is hoped that this may be of great help in the understanding of this novel.

《飘》是美国女作家玛格丽特•米切尔(1900 - 1949)第一部也是唯一一部长经典小说。它于1936年出版,在读者中读者很受欢迎。这部小说被广泛传播到世界各地,然后被制成电影《乱世佳人》。《飘》是历史中最经典的爱情故事之一,由费雯丽和克拉克•盖博主演的电影已成为一个在历史上的“不可逾越”的最著名的经典爱情故事。故事以美国南北战争为背景,主线是美丽而任性的斯佳丽小姐的婚姻和为家园而奋斗的故事,同时也记录了社会和历史的重大变化。作品刻画了那个时代许多南方人的形象,中心人物斯嘉丽、瑞特、艾希利和媚兰以及其他的一些典型代表。小说成功地复制了那时候美国南部地区的社会生活。最吸引人的地方是思嘉丽的个性以及她的爱情故事。为什么她的爱情故事是如此的令人信服，原因很简单,因为它是真实的。真实的东西可能并不高贵,但更加接近人们的生活,因此更受读者欢迎。
