Abstract

    In the literary world, Gone with the Wind and Jing Hua Yan Yun are widely known classic literary works. The two heroins, Scarlett and Yao Mulan, are classic female images, full of typical significance and artistic vitality respectively in Western and Chinese literature history. They are loaded with rich cultural content, deeply reflecting different characteristics of Western and Chinese culture.
    Scarlett and Yao Mulan are both born in wealthy families, but they have experienced legendary life full of tribulations. Growing up in war, they both developed their own spiritual home as a source of strength. Due to Sino-Western cultural differences, their image character and life values reflect their own cultural marks. Yao Mulan is a valiant and knowledgeable, intelligent and demure, elegant and charming woman growing up in war. She is the "daughter of Taoism" and "Confucian daughter-in-law". In contrast, Scarlett is rebellious and willful, valiant and adamant. She dares to break the bondage of secular to be herself, demonstrating the spirit of individualism of the Western culture.
This paper is divided into four parts: the first part briefly introduces the two novels, Gone with the Wind and Jing Hua Yan Yun, and their social backgrounds; the second part explores similarities of Scarlett and Yao Mulan’s female images, in the view of a comparison between Western and Chinese culture; the third part specifically analyzes the differences of the female images of Scarlet and Yao Mulan in terms of Western and Chinese female aesthetic sense, value orientation, moral standards, family ethics and concept of love; the fourth part focus on the reasons and enlightenment of similarities and differences between the two female images.

摘  要

在世界文学作品中,《京华烟云》和《飘》可以说是广为人知的两部文学名著。这两部作品的女主人翁姚木兰和斯嘉丽分别是中西文学史上富于典型意义和艺术生命力的经典女性形象,她们身上都负载着丰厚的文化内容,深刻体现了中西文化各自的特征。
    姚木兰和斯嘉丽都出身于殷实家庭,却都经历了充满磨难的传奇人生,她们的心灵在战争中成长,都有着自己的精神家园作为力量源泉。由于中西方的文化差异,她们的形象品格、人生观念等等又都体现着各自的文化烙印。姚木兰是一个成长在战乱里的剑胆琴心、聪慧端庄、优雅动人的女子,是“道家的女儿”、“儒家的媳妇”。斯佳丽则任性反叛、勇敢坚强,敢于冲破世俗的束缚而活出真我,她的身上深刻地体现了西方文化精神。
本文分四个部分:第一部分简要介绍了两部作品及其作者,其所处的时代背景;第二部分别将姚木兰形象和斯佳丽形象纳入中西文化比较的大视野中,探讨两部作品中女主人公的相似之处;第三部分从中西女性审美观,中西文化观的价值取向、道德标准、家庭伦理和爱情观等方面分析比较其相异之处;第四部分总结两位女性形象相似和相异之处产生的原因及给我们的启示。
