摘要

《呼啸山庄》讲述的是呼啸山庄主人欧肖先生带回一个不明身份的孩子并取名为希斯克利夫。虽然欧肖和他的女儿凯瑟琳善待他，但他从小备受小主人辛德雷凌辱。欧肖死后，辛德雷继承了山庄，他将希斯克利夫贬为奴仆并百般迫害，只有凯瑟琳视他为知己，且两人互相爱上了对方。后来，凯瑟琳爱上并嫁给了画眉山庄的埃德加。希斯克利夫愤而出走，三年后致富回到呼啸山庄。继而他对呼啸山庄和画眉山庄进行疯狂的报复。内心痛苦不堪的凯瑟琳在生产过程中死去。但报复并没因凯瑟琳的死而停止。报复得逞了，但希斯克利夫无法从对死去的凯瑟琳深爱中解脱出来，最终不吃不喝苦恋而死。

Abstract

Wuthering Heights is a love story about Heathcliff, an unidentified child adopted by Mr.Earnshaw. Heathcliff has suffered a lot from the young master Hindley's abuse since childhood, though Earnshaw and his daughter Catherine treat him with goodwill. When Mr.Earnshaw dies, the young master Hindley inherits Wuthering Heights. From then on, Heathcliff is demoted to a slave by the new master and suffered his diverse persecution. Only Catherine regards him as a friend, and gradually they love each other. Later, Catherine loves and marries Edgar, the master of Thrushcross Grange. Therefore, Heathcliff leaves angrily. Three years later, he becomes rich and returns to Wuthering heights. Then he begins his crazy revenge on them. The mental anguish makes Catherine die in a delivery. However, his retaliation does not stop after that. Finally all the revenge achieves, but Heathcliff can not get rid of the pain of his lover's death and he also dies of eating nothing due to spiritual affliction.
