摘要 

外交委婉语因其独特的特点和功能，在国际交流场合，如新闻发布会等场合经常被外交人员使用。然而，现有的文献表明，他们的研究大多未能对特定情景下的委婉语进行研究。本文以中美两国新闻发布会的30段对话为基础，试图探讨中美外交委婉语的异同点。

通过分析，本研究发现中美两国的新闻发布会都使用了大量的外交委婉语，且违反质量原则的情况最少。所不同的是,中国外交发言人倾向于在违反方式准则中使用隐喻的修辞手法,而美国外交发言人倾向于在违反质量准则中使用幽默的语言或在违反数量准则中以提供更多信息的方式达到委婉的效果。

本研究的结果可以帮助发言人在外交场合注意自己的言辞。
