A Study on the Differences of Family Education in Primary School Period Between China and America From Modern Family and Home with Kids

摘要

随着社会的变迁,现代家庭与家庭教育的地位日益凸显。家庭是一个人实现社会化的起始,家长是孩子的第一个启蒙老师,是其探索世界的领路人。家庭教育为个人的启蒙、成长和成才奠定了基础。特别是小学阶段的家庭教育,在孩子成长过程中起着至关重要的作用。由于文化差异,中国父母受到集体主义和等级观念的影响,以孝为名,以父母之命为先,学业成就成为家庭教育的重中之重,而美国父母受平等自由和个人主义思想的影响,主张尊重孩子的个性与兴趣爱好,注重孩子综合素质的发展。    

本课题以美国家庭情景剧《摩登家庭》和中国家庭情景剧《家有儿女》为研究对象,对比中美家庭教育的差异,从不同的孩子行为、家长态度以及不同的家庭教育出发点分析产生差异的文化原因,以期通过借鉴外国的现代家庭教育技巧,促进孩子健康成长,提高下一代素质,同时促进中美两国社会文化交流。

Abstract

With the development of society, modern family and family education become more and more important. Family is the original place of growth and parents are the first teachers of children playing the role of guiding them to explore the world. Family education, in primary school period in particular, lays the foundation for personal enlightenment, growth and success. Owing to the cultural differences, Chinese parents focus on filial piety and parents’ authority, academic achievement is of uppermost priority, however, American parents are influenced by the sense of egalitarianism and individualism, they are concerned about children’s personality and interests in the belief that children should develop in an all-round way.

This thesis analyses the differences and cultural causes of family education between China and America through American TV series Modern Family and Chinese TV series Home with Kids. It aims to encourage Chinese parents to learn skills of modern family education from Americans so that the next generation can have higher personal qualities and grow up healthily and happily. At the same time, it can promote the cultural exchanges between China and America.
