摘要

乔治·艾略特的代表作《弗洛斯河上的磨坊》讲述了维多利亚时期的女性麦琪的悲剧故事。本文拟通过对内因和外因两方面的分析来探究造成麦琪悲剧命运的原因:一方面，麦琪自身性格中既反对男性中心社会又向其妥协的两面性是造成其悲剧命运的主要原因，而另一方面，父权社会来自男性的压迫、父亲的破产给麦琪带来了身心的折磨。这些因素相互作用最终造成了麦琪的悲剧人生。
