An Analysis of the Subtitle Translation of The Avengers from the Perspective of Adaptation Theory_英语论文

摘要

随着互联网时代的到来和信息技术的快速发展，世界各国之间的文化交流也变得更加频繁，影视作品得以在全球范围内广泛传播，这使得电影产业全球化的进程大大加快。电影字幕翻译作为电影对外传播的重要工具，有助于帮助不同语言、文化、意识之间实现无障碍沟通，因而是这一过程中不可或缺的关键一环。语言的使用是语言使用者根据交际语境的需要或为达到达到交际意图而做出一系列选择的过程。这些选择往往在语言结构等内部层面上发生，同时受到语境等外部因素的影响，它是语境和语言选择二者相互顺应的动态过程，反映了语言使用者对交际过程的意识程度。在这一核心理论指导下，本文将以电影《复仇者联盟》的字幕翻译为研究对象，分别从语言语境、文化语境、情景语境三个角度出发，通过具体分析文本中的翻译实例来研究电影中字幕翻译的顺应现象，并进而总结出顺应理论下电影字幕翻译实践的策略和方法。

Abstract

With the advent of the Internet era and the rapid development of information technology, cultural exchanges between different countries have become more frequent. Film and television works have been widely disseminated throughout the world, which makes the process of the globalization of the film industry greatly accelerated. Film subtitle translation, as an important tool of film dissemination, helps to realize barrier-free communication among different languages, cultures and consciousness. Therefore, it is an indispensable key link in this process. Adaptation theory holds that the use of language is a process in which language users make a series of choices according to the needs of the communicative context or in order to achieve the communicative intention. These choices often occur at the internal level such as the language structure, influenced by external factors such as context. It is a dynamic process of adaptation between context and language choice, which reflects the level of language users' awareness of the process of communication. Under the guidance of this core theory, this paper will take the subtitle translation of the film The Avengers as the research object, starting from linguistic context, cultural context and situational context respectively. The adaptation phenomenon in film subtitle translation is studied by analyzing the translation examples in the text, and then the author hopes to summarize the strategies and methods of film subtitle translation practice under adaptation theory.
