A Term Study Based on Translation of“On Liberty”_英语论文

摘要

术语学是语言学的一个分支，是语言学中一个不可忽视的学科 (冯志伟，2012: 1-3)。虽然一直以来，术语学没有被学界重视，但术语学本身的研究价值和理论指导意义不容小觑。在信息技术不断深入人们工作、学习和研究的同时，术语管理、术语翻译和术语识别与提取等议题逐渐引起大家的重视。而在这其中，术语翻译作为一种特别门类的翻译形式，在具备翻译普遍特征的同时，具有其特殊性，换言之，就是在遵循翻译研究学理性的同时，也有其本身的特点，即术语翻译的复杂性。如何理解、挖掘和阐述术语翻译的复杂性是比较棘手的问题。对此，翻译适应选择论对术语翻译的过程机制具有一定的解释力，但也有其局限性。

《群己权界论》是严复翻译的重要作品之一，充分体现古典自由主义，是晚清时期哲学方面并不多见的作品。通过对《群己权界论》中的术语进行梳理、统计和分析，建立语料库，能够帮助研究者对严复的译名思想与实践做出较为深入的考察与思考。同时，基于适应选择论，对《群己权界论》中具体的个案进行归纳与提炼，可以对比分析严复译名生成机制，从严复译名思想与实践中汲取经验教训，探寻术语翻译的规律，为严复译名思想研究做出有益尝试，为我国社科术语翻译实践提供有益的具体指导。最后，从传播学角度对《群己权界论》展开评述，传播学视角赋予其跨语言跨文化交流与传播的性质，在当今信息化、全球化的大背景下，顺应时代发展的潮流（杨雪莲，2010: 11-20）。

鉴往知来，对严复社科术语的译名实践展开历史钩沉，考察其对近代汉语社科术语体系建构的重要影响，为今天的社科术语翻译实践提供有益参照，提升我国外来术语汉译及应用的整体水平，满足日益增长的社科术语翻译实践的需求。
