摘　要

餐桌礼仪是一个国家风俗文化的体现,中国的餐桌礼仪源远流长,随着改革开放的不断深入,我们也应当对西方国家的餐桌礼仪有所了解,这对于我们了解西方国家的风土人情,增进双方之间的交流都有着非常重要的现实意义。不同的民族和国家存在着各具特色的饮食文化,具有浓郁的民族性和多样性的特点。饮食文化及餐桌礼仪的差异也是跨文化交际中影响交际结果的因素。本文主要讲述了中美之间不同的饮食文化，并阐述了由此造成的中美餐桌礼仪的区别。从跨文化的角度揭示中美饮食文化及餐桌礼仪的差异与不同,可以使人们理解其深刻的文化内涵,探究其文化底蕴,提高跨文化意识。不同的中美餐桌礼仪是不同的价值取向、人文关系和思维方式等中美文化差异的集中体现。探究这些差异形成的原因,有益于探索坚持发扬本国优秀文化传统,同时采取客观、宽容、尊重的心态对待异国文化,吸收其精华,更得体地进行跨文化交际。

Abstract

Table manner is a reflection of a nation’s culture and custom. Chinese table manner has a long history. With the further development of reform and opening, we should have some knowledge of the western table manners. It is very important for us to know the local conditions and customs of western countries. Learning western science and technology and promoting the exchange between them are practical significance. Different people and countries, with unique food cultures, have their characteristics of nationality and diversity. This paper mainly describes the different diet culture between China and the United States, and explains the differences of the dinner table etiquette caused by them. Diet culture and difference of table manners affect cross-cultural communications. From the perspective of cross-cultural, this paper reveals that American diet cultures and table manners are different, helps people and understand the profound cultural connotation, probe into its culture and enhance intercultural consciousness. Different Chinese and American table manners represent the differences between Chinese and America, such as different value orientation, human relationship and ways of thinking.  To explore the causes of these differences, will be beneficial for us to adhere to our traditional culture. We should have an attitude of objection, tolerance, respect to absorb the essence of culture, in order to carry out intercultural communication more appropriately.

1 Introduction
As a Chinese saying goes, “people take food as their first need”. With the development of the society, both eastern and western countries have formed their own table manners. As China and America are representative countries of the west and east, I take these two as examples to illustrate the differences among eastern and western countries.
