Abstract
Idiom is an important component of language and culture, the appropriate use of which is a mark of a language learner’s command of the language. This paper gives a brief analysis of the cultural differences between Chinese and English idioms and illustrates the manifestations of cultural differences from two aspects, one is about historical and cultural origin differences; and the other is from traditional and symbolic differences. This research aims is to enhance language learners’ intercultural awareness and help them comprehend and utilize idioms precisely and accurately.
