摘要

谭恩美的《喜福会》是华裔文学史上标志性的作品之一，它令亚裔小说进入了文学的主流。而谭恩美作为中国的华裔作家的代表，通过作品《喜福会》显示了她对文化冲突和融合的深刻见解。她通过讲述中国移民母亲和在美国成长的女儿两代人之间从冲突到和解的故事，生动地描绘了其中的母女关系与情感。这两代人之间的冲突代表这东方和西方之间的文化差异，而母女关系的和解意味着文化的融合、交流和发展趋势。
本文以小说《喜福会》中复杂的母女为例，尝试研究中国文化之间的冲突与融合。论文由五部分组成。第一章为引言，主要介绍了中美文化、华裔作家谭恩美以及本文的研究主体《喜福会》。第二章对国内外目前的研究现状进行回顾，为后文的研究打下基础。文献综述涵盖了三个方面：中美文化差异的研究，小说《喜福会》主题的研究以及学术界对《喜福会》当中母女关系含义的研究。第三章和第四章是本文的中心部分。这两个章节分别对中美文化的冲突进行阐述和陈列，并运用《喜福会》中母女关系的小说细节对其进行详细分析；除此，第四章也将对母女之间和解的原因，即中美文化融合的原因进行分析。第五章作为结尾部分对全文要点的总结。
本篇论文探讨了《喜福会》中母女关系由矛盾冲突到缓和融洽的心路历程的文化缘由。这不仅是对《喜福会》中母女关系的一种诠释，更是体现了中美文化和谐发展和交流的必然趋势。

Abstract

Amy Tan’s The Joy Luck club is one of the landmarks in Chinese American literary history, which helps to catapult Asian American fiction into the literary mainstream. Amy Tan, as one of the representative of Chinese American writers, shows her thoughtful understanding of cultural conflicts and integration in the The Joy Luck Club. Tan depicts the complicated mother-daughter relationship by telling the stories about generational conflicts and reconciliation of Chinese immigrant mothers and American-born daughters. The conflicts between the two generations can be seen as cultural differences between the East and the West. While the reconciliation of mother-daughter relationship is imply of the trend of cultural communication and development.
This thesis is tentative study about cultural conflicts and integration between China and America by taking an example of the mother-daughter relationship in The Joy Luck Club. The paper is made up five chapters. The first chapter gives a brief introduction of culture, Amy Tan and her novel The Joy Luck Club. The second chapter is about the literature review on cultural differences, themes of The Joy Luck Club and research on the mother-daughter relationship in The Joy Luck Club. The third and fourth parts are the main body which studies the cultural conflicts and integration of the mother-daughter relationship. In these two chapters, the details in The Joy Luck Club are applied to illustrate the cultural connotations, and the reasons of the cultural integration is also tried to be explained. The last part is a summary of the main points of this thesis.
This thesis investigates the cultural causes of the relationship between mothers and daughters changing from contradiction to harmony. What has been discussed is not only a complete explanation of the mother-daughter relationship in The Joy Luck Club, but also reflects the trend of the harmonious development and integration of Chinese and American culture.
