电影承担着传递各个国家不同文化的责任。然而，目前有些电影字幕翻译并不符合我们的说话习惯，造成了观众觉得电影难以理解的问题。本文主要探究如何在汉斯·弗米尔提出的目的论指导下，让字幕翻译能被更多观众认可。本文将基于目的论，从目的原则，连贯原则和忠实原则,还有忠诚原则三个方面分析《神奇动物在哪里》电影系列的中英字幕翻译，分析和讨论译者是如何通过不同的翻译策略来达到翻译目的,如音译、直译和意译。本文研究得知目的原则能帮助译者更好贯彻让观众了解电影这一目的。连贯原则和忠实原则保证了电影字幕翻译的连贯性和通俗性。而电影中的文化传递则通过忠诚原则来实现。目的论为电影字幕翻译提供了理论支持和更多的翻译方法，有助于外国电影的传播和实现跨文化交流。

Abstract

The film bears the mission of conveying the cultures of different countries. In practice, some subtitle translations don’t conform to our customs and speaking habits, which make the audience hard to comprehend the story. This thesis aims to analyze how to make the subtitle translation better under the guidance of Skopos Theory, which is proposed by Hans Vermeer. The thesis will particularly make an analysis of E-C translation of subtitle in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (film series) from three aspects－skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule, and loyalty principle, and discuss different translation devices are employed to achieve the purpose of subtitle translation, like transliteration, liberal translation and literal translation. The thesis finds out that skopos rule can help translators focus on the purpose of subtitle translation, that is, making the audience understand the movie. Coherence rule and fidelity rule make the language of subtitle translations more comprehensible to the audience. The cultural transmission through films is achieved by loyalty principle. Skopos Theory provides theoretical support for subtitle translation and offers us more methods to translate. The application of Skopos Theory in subtitle translation is of great help to spread the foreign films and make cross-cultural communication.
