摘要

尤金·奈达的功能对等理论是最早的成体系的翻译理论之一，自上世纪提出以来一直被各国译者广泛运用于不同源语与目的语的翻译文中。翻译从业者各自对该理论有不同的理解，因此运用该理论的方式也有所区别。本研究旨在用定性分析的方法对比英国作家威廉·萨摩赛特·毛姆的小说《月亮与六便士》的两个汉译本，找出两者在功能对等理论的词汇、句子两个层面的异同，并进行深入的比较研究与分析。研究发现两个译本都倾向于运用地道的中文表达，其中詹 森译本运用的中文表达更为口语化，傅惟慈译本的表达则偏正式。句法层面上，傅惟慈译本更多保留了英文原文的句子结构，詹 森的译本则有较多改动。总体而言，詹译本比傅译本更接近奈达所说的功能对等。本论文的研究结论有望对日后的英汉翻译时间提供一些启示。
