本课题旨在以功能对等理论为指导，在前人研究的基础上，运用对比和定性分析的方法从语义对等、句法对等和文体对等几个方面分析《唐顿庄园》字幕中幽默语的汉译情况，本文将探讨幽默语汉译的得失，同时总结出一些幽默翻译的经验并给出合理的翻译建议，比如增译，仿译或加注来了解文化差异，以期为幽默语的翻译发展及中英文化交流作出自己的一份贡献。

Abstract

This paper will study on the verbal humor translation in Downton Abbey and from the perspectives of equivalence by comparison and qualitative analysis on the basis of previous studies. The achievement and loss of English-Chinese translation of verbal humor will also be discussed in the paper. At the same time, some suggestions will be given on verbal humor translation to make potential contribution to the development of verbal humor translation and international cultural exchanges, such as addition, imitation, annotation and so on.
