摘要 

《喜福会》是一本典型描写中美文化交流的小说，它通过对四对母女代沟、隔阂冲突的描写，反映了中美⽂化的相遇、碰撞和融合。本课题主要从面子理论来解读中美文化的融合和冲突。因为文化的差异性造成了中西面子的观的不同，中国⼈更注重正面形象，希望在公众中树⽴良好形象。相反，西方人注重消极面子，注重独立自由。母亲希望能够让女儿能够继承中国传统文化的价值观，但是女儿希望能够的到自由，不被母亲约束，因此母女之间威胁面子的冲突话语时常发生。本课题分析了面子理论下，喜福会中母女间冲突话语的形式和原因。然而，无论是中国文化还是美国文化，礼貌都很重要。母女都采⽤⼀些礼貌战略来避免冲突对话。中美文化中的⼀些价值观是⽭盾的，但它们会在某些⽅⾯融合发展。
