摘要

《钟形罩》是美国著名自白派女诗人西尔维亚普拉斯的一部自传体小说。小说主要讲述艾斯特在经历了一系列生活经历之后，是如何在男权社会的压抑之下进行挣扎，尝试获得身体和心理重生的过程。本文从文学伦理学批评角度出发分析艾斯特所处的伦理环境和在此环境中的女性形象塑造的过程，并通过对比小说中的人物传达出的传统和现代婚姻观剖析艾斯特婚姻观的变化过程。最终说明虽然社会环境确实会影响女性自我意识的觉醒，但是无论怎样生活在“钟形罩”中的女人应该学会反抗，追求权力的平等。

Abstract

The Bell Jar is the autobiographical novel of Sylvia Plath, one of the most famous female confessional poets of America. Through describing a series of life experiences of Esther, this novel fully demonstrates the process from Esther’s struggling under the oppression of patriarchal society to achieving the rebirth of physiology and psychology. Based on the methodology of the ethical literary criticism, this paper will probe into the ethical environment of Esther and how her image is shaped in such an environment; Meanwhile, via the comparison of traditional and modern view of marriage, the dynamic changes of Esther’s view of marriage are illustrated. At last, this thesis will try to get the result that social environment inevitably affects the awareness of female consciousness, however, the women living in the bell jar should learn to revolt and strive for their own equality proactively.
