基于范畴化理论的初中英语词汇教学策略研究

On Study of English Vocabulary Teaching Strategies Based on Categorization Theory in Junior High School

摘要

众所周知,英语词汇学习在英语教学中是至关重要的。词汇量的不足将严重影响学习者各种语言能力的培养与提升,可以说拥有词汇量的大小很大程度上就决定着整个外语水平。因此,如何有效帮助引导学生熟记单词,扩大词汇量便成为英语教学的关键。

本论文首先阐述了范畴化理论。接着对当前初中英语词汇教学现状进行了问卷调查,并基于范畴化理论对调查结果进行反思和总结,发现词汇教学中普遍存在一些问题,包括学生们花费了大量的时间,精力去记了新词,却又忘了旧词。由于缺乏连贯性的系统的复习,很容易导致遗忘,便产生徒劳无功的感知,打击学生的学习信心,又缺乏有效的多样化的记忆方法,一味机械记忆容易产生厌倦情绪,从而影响学习效果。论文在分析初中英语词汇教学效果不佳问题原因的基础上,基于范畴化理论,提出了有效的英语词汇教学策略,包括基本词汇教学,上属和下级词汇的教学和隐喻词汇教学等,以便教师指导学生更有效地学习英语词汇,从而提高英语教学效果。

ABSTRACT

As we know, English vocabulary learning is very important in English teaching. The lack of vocabulary will seriously affect the cultivation and promotion of learners ' abilities, so the size of the vocabulary often determines the level of the entire foreign language. Therefore, how to guide students to memorize words and enlarge their vocabulary becomes a crucial part in English teaching. 

This paper firstly describes the categorization theory, then surveys the current situation of junior high school English vocabulary teaching through questionnaires, finally makes a reflection on the survey results based on the theory of categorization and finds that there are some problems in vocabulary teaching. It is found that students don't pay enough attention to vocabulary, and they think vocabulary learning is time-consuming and inefficient. Students spend a lot of time and energy to remember the new words but forget the old ones. Because of the lack of coherence of the systematic review, it is easy to lead to oblivion, which often combats students ' confidence in learning. And students’ lacking effective and diverse methods of memorizing vocabulary and their mechanical memory is easy to generate boredom, thus affecting their learning efficiency. On the basis of analyzing the causes of problems in English vocabulary teaching in junior Middle school, this paper puts forward some effective English vocabulary teaching strategies based on the theory of categorization, including basic-level terms teaching, superordinate and subordinate vocabulary teaching and metaphorical meaning teaching, so that teachers can guide students to learn English vocabulary more effectively, so as to improve the effectiveness of English teaching.
