系统功能语言学视角下《最后一片常春藤叶》的及物性分析

The Transitivity Analysis of the Last Ivy Leaf from the Perspective of Systemic Functional Linguistics

摘要

以韩礼德为代表的功能语言学在语篇分析中具有很强的解释力，尤其是及物性分析理论，常被大多数学者用来分析文学语篇。本研究在功能语言学的框架下，对《最后一片常春藤叶》作及物性分析。本论文采用定量分析的研究方法。研究表明：（1）六大及物性过程在文中均有体现，其中物质过程占22%，心理过程占6%，关系过程占10%，行为过程占13%，言语过程占29%，存在过程占1%。（2）言语过程和物质过程占比最大。前者与欧亨利通过人物之间的交谈来表现情节的发展有关，后者能够使读者真实体会故事中人物角色的具体行为表现，让文章生动、形象，富有感染力。

ABSTRACT

The functional linguistics, Halliday as the founder has a strong explanatory power in discourse analysis. The transitivity system, in particular, is often employed by most scholars to analyze literary texts. This study is an analysis of the Last Ivy Leaf from the perspective of transitivity system in the framework of functional linguistics. This paper adopts the method of quantitative analysis. The findings are that: (1) the six transitive processes have skew distribution in the text- in which material process accounts for 22%, mental process for 6%, relationship process for 10%, behavioral process for 13%, verbal process for 29%, and existential process for 1%. (2) The verbal process and the material process are the most important. The former is related to the development of the plot by the conversation between the characters by O’ Henry. The latter can make the reader truly understand the concrete behavior of the characters in the story, and make the article vivid, image and infective.
