On the Definition and cultivation of Core Quality of Business English Undergraduates

摘要

当前，随着中国经济高速发展，中国日益频繁地参与国际经贸事务，对于商务英语人才的需求与日俱增，所以对商务英语专业学生的核心素养及其培养方式的探究也越来越迫切。通过对高校商务英语专业现状进行分析，并结合当前高校商务英语专业本科生所面临的挑战，我们可以发现商务英语专业本科生应具备扎实的商务英语语言基础，熟练的商务技能和有效的在商务沟通能力等核心素养。从课程设置、教材选择、教学方法以及实践训练四方面重点探究如何培养和提升这些核心素养，能够促进商务英语专业学生适应当前企业和社会经济不断发展的需要。

Abstract

Nowadays, China increasingly participates in international economic and commercial exchanges. Therefore, its demand of business English talents grows with each passing day. Since the society has a growing demand for Business English talents, the research and discussion of the definition and cultivation of business English undergraduates’ core qualities are becoming more and more urgent. Through the analysis of the current condition of business English majors in China, and considering the challenges that current business English undergraduates are confronted with, we find that the core qualities business English students are supposed to possess are solid language basic of business English, professional business skills and efficient business communication skills. Besides, attention is paid to the ways of cultivating and promoting these core qualities from four aspects: reasonable course arrangement, appropriate teaching materials and practical exercises. In this way, it will be beneficial to the cultivation of qualified compound English talents who can meet the needs of current enterprises and the ongoing social economy.
