摘要

《红楼梦》是我国古代四大名著之一，标志着曹雪芹的极高的艺术成就和中国早期文学小说创作的成熟。这部小说享誉世界，深深地影响了一代又一代人的思想。因为中国四大经典小说的影响之深及其在中国文学中所扮演的重要角色，国内外众多学者和翻译家都致力于对它们的研究和翻译。其中红楼梦备受关注，成为对比研究的焦点。

同时我们仍然要加强《红楼梦》在不同框架下的研究。作者在阅读和研究这部小说时，发现其中对中国文化、饮食、诗歌、人物和周围环境的描写，存在大量的叠词，用以模仿声音、描绘风景、创造韵律、表达情感、强调重点。叠词不仅在汉语中是一种应用广泛的修辞手法，同时也在英文中经常出现，只不过英文中使用叠词的频率相对汉语小得多。因此关于叠词的英汉互译问题也一直是广大翻译学者们讨论的话题。已经有不少学者对叠词的翻译进行了卓有成效的研究，但很少有人谈到《红楼梦》中出现的叠词的翻译，更不用说从不同的翻译理论角度进行研究。

针对叠词翻译中缺乏相应的理论支持的问题，结合前人的研究，作者从剖析杨宪益夫妇《红楼梦》英译版本入手，将其中叠词的翻译都统计出来，并结合功能对等原理分类研究，总结杨宪益夫妇在其中运用的不同的翻译策略如重复、音译等，进而得出其中的共通之处与不同之处，最后总结相应的叠词翻译的方法，并对叠词的可译度问题进行探讨。
