关联理论视角下的电影字幕翻译策略-以《阿甘正传》_英语论文

E-C Film Subtitle Translation from the Perspective of Relevance Theory-A Case Study of Forrest Gump

摘要

随着跨文化交流的进一步深入，英语电影作为重要的媒介，不断地涌入中国市场，吸引了越来越多的中国观众。但是由于中西方语言、文化存在着许多差异，中国观众想要更好地理解并欣赏英语原版影片，电影字幕的翻译就显得尤为重要。本文试图从关联理论视角，对电影字幕翻译进行研究。首先，文章对电影字幕的定义、分类以及电影字幕翻译的特点作一介绍；接着，文章阐述了关联理论产生的背景、发展过程以及两个主要原则；然后，文章从关联理论的视角，详细分析了影片《阿甘正传》的字幕翻译，并在此基础上提出了字幕翻译的一些翻译策略：缩减法，归化法和明晰法。通过对本课题的研究，希望更多的学者能够重视电影字幕的翻译，以便更好地促进跨文化交际。

Abstract

With the further development of cross cultural communication, English movies, as an important mass media, have been poured into China. It has already attracted more and more Chinese audience. But as we know there are lots of linguistic and cultural differences between Chinese and western countries. It is very important to study film subtitle translation in the hope that Chinese audience will better understand and enjoy western films. This paper intends to make a study of the subtitle translation from the perspective of relevance theory. First of all, it introduces the definitions and classifications of subtitle as well as features of subtitle translation. Then it illustrates the theoretical basis of the paper, ie relevance theory, including its background, development and major principles. After that, it makes detailed analysis of the subtitle translation of English movies Forrest Gump under the guidance of relevance theory. And based on this, the paper comes up with specific strategies of subtitle translation, ie reduction, explicitation and domestication. Through this study, it is hoped that more researchers will attach more importance to film subtitle translation in order to promote cross cultural communication.
