An Analysis of C-E Translation Strategies for News Buzzwords with Chinese Characteristics from the Perspective of Cultural Translation Theory_英语论文

摘要

中国特色新闻热词,具有时代特征,反映中国社会的热点话题及潮流趋势,紧扣中国社会热点。在经济全球化的背景下,国家交往日益紧密。作为世界主要经济强国的中国,对世界的影响与日俱增,中国特色新闻热词对外输出的需求量庞大,因此对中国特色新闻热词翻译的要求不断提高。

然而,在中译英的过程中部分译作为了保存词汇的中国文化特色, 有时甚至不顾译文在英文中的可接受性, 导致文化误解的现象。为了解决这个问题,我们应该采取一些有效的翻译策略。本文就苏珊巴斯奈特的文化翻译观视角,探讨中国特色新闻热词的英译策略,向受众传达中国特色热词的本意,促进中外文化交流。同时,分析中国特色新闻热词的翻译方法,给予译者一定的指导,有利于加强中国和世界的跨文化交流。

Abstract

The news buzzword with Chinese characteristics is a ubiquitous language phenomenon which keeps pace with times, reflecting the hot topics and new trends of China society. Under the development of economic globalization, countries are becoming interdependent. China, one of the world's major economic powers, plays a more significant role in the global world which makes the external output of news buzzwords with Chinese characteristics in huge demand. 

However, in the process of C-E translation, some lexical items fail to reproduce the original meaning because the acceptability in English is ignored, thus causing misunderstanding at a cultural level. In order to solve these problems, some effective translation strategies should be employed. Based on Susan Bassnett’s Cultural Translation Theory, this paper discusses the translation strategies of news buzzwords with Chinese characteristics and conveys the intended meaning of the buzzwords with Chinese characteristics to the recipient, aiming to promote cultural communication between China and foreign countries. Meanwhile, an analysis of approaches to translating news buzzwords with Chinese characteristics can provide more practical guidance which contributes to the intercultural communication between China and the world.
