摘要

斯托夫人的《汤姆叔叔的小屋》描绘了奴隶的悲惨生活，深刻揭示了美国奴隶制的残忍。本文通过分析和对比小说中所塑造的汤姆叔叔和乔治两位黑人男性形象, 认为作者的意图是揭示奴隶制的残忍，表达对奴隶的同情对奴隶制加以批判, 以及呼吁废除奴隶制。

Abstract

Uncle Tom’s Cabin written by Mrs Stowe depicted the miserable life of slaves and deeply revealed the brutality. By analyzing and comparing the two female slaves, Uncle Tom and George, this paper explores the writer’s purpose of revealing the brutality of slaves, calling for sympathy of readers’, criticizing slavery and appeal of the urgent need to abolish the slavery.
