How to Better Vocabulary Teaching in Senior High English Reading

摘要

语言是人类交际过程中的重要工具，而词汇是语言最小意义的单位。英国语言学家威尔金斯曾经就说过:“没有语法，能表达的内容很少；没有词汇，则什么也表达不了”（195）。因此在阅读理解的过程中，词汇教学是一个重要的步骤，没有足够的词汇量就会对阅读文章的理解产生困难。然而，在当今的教育形势下，高中英语阅读课中的词汇教学理念存在着一些误区，教学方法存在着一些问题，这些都非常不利于学生有效地进行阅读中词汇的学习。我们应该对此加以重视，在学习和教学过程中吸取别人的经验教训，总结出一些好的教学方法，帮助学生长久地记住这些单词，并且让学生在实际的生活中熟练地应用这些单词进行交际。同时也要在教学过程中提出自己对词汇教学的看法，并且探索新的词汇教学方法，提高词汇教学效益。

基于以上原因，作者采用问卷调查和实验法，在了解了新课标的基础上对某中学英语词汇教学的现状进行了分析，并结合作者通过实验对比法得出了相应的教学结果，希望能给老师和同学们在高中英语阅读课中的词汇教学提出可行性的建议。

Abstract

Language is the important instrument in communication, while vocabulary is the smallest semantic unit in language. Just as Wilkins,David A. claims that without grammar very little can be conveyed; without vocabulary nothing can be conveyed (195). If we have no enough vocabulary, we cannot understand text well. Therefore vocabulary teaching is a very important step during reading comprehension. However, in modern education situation, there are some misunderstanding in vocabulary teaching in senior high English reading and some problems in teaching method which go against effective students’ vocabulary learning in reading. We should pay much attention to this issue, and draw lessons from others’ experience, and sum up some useful teaching method to help students keep words in mind. What’s more, we should cultivate students’ communicative ability in actual life. We can put forward some opinions about vocabulary teaching and explore innovative vocabulary teaching method to improve the effect in vocabulary teaching.

Owing to the above reasons, the writer analyzes the current situations of vocabulary teaching by questionnaires and experimentation on the basis of the New Curriculum Standards in a high school. With corresponding results through experimental comparison, the writer hopes that teachers and students can get practical pedagogic advice from this thesis.
