从顺应理论看《骆驼祥子》两个英译本中的文化因素翻译_英语论文

Translation of Cultural Elements in Two English Versions of Luotuo Xiangzi: from the Perspective of Adaptation Theory

摘要

本文以维索尔伦的顺应理论为框架视角，对比分析两个英译本，即Evan King和施晓菁英译本《骆驼祥子》中对同一中国文化因素翻译的处理。一方面具体实证了语境顺应理论，另一方面又探讨了两位译者在翻译中的选择与顺应过程。最后对比分析表明：不同的译者在特定的历史文化背景下，采取的翻译方法与策略是不尽相同的。在如今推广中国文化的背景下，译者应综合地考虑翻译目的、文化差异和读者的接受力等，以更好地传播文化。

Abstract

By taking Verschueren’s Adaptation theory as a theoretical framework, this thesis has chosen two English versions of Luotuo Xiangzi---Evan King’s and Shi Xiaojing’s, to give a comprehensive analysis of translation of Chinese cultural elements, which not only concretely confirms Verschueren’s Adaptation Theory, but also explores the compliance and selection of two translators. Moreover, the final analysis proves that in specific cultural and historical background, translation methods and strategies adopted by different translators also vary with each other. Therefore, in the background of promoting Chinese culture abroad, in order to better cultural communication, translators ought to take translation purpose, cultural divergence and readers’ acceptability into account.
