The Study of English Translation of Chinese Reduplicated Words

摘要

叠词作为一种在汉语中普遍存在的现象，它们韵律紧凑，并且在文章中有很强的表现力和感染力。正因为如此，它们在汉语中的使用频率非常高。然而叠词同样在英语学习过程中得到运用。由于中英文之间表达方式有所不同，因此将汉语叠词恰当地英译并不是一件简单的事情。我将通过研究更多关于汉语叠词的知识，提出一些基础的但重要的翻译方法，并给出更多细节上的分析和总结。此外，再通过分析和研究相关文学作品及材料，得出相应的翻译策略及技巧。最后，将这些翻译方法运用到实际翻译中去，我们就能够准确地表达出汉语叠词的含义，同时使得外国人也了解汉语叠词所蕴含的美。

Abstract

Reduplicated words as a kind of common phenomenon in Chinese are compact in rhyme and have strong expression and appeal. Therefore, their frequency of use is very high in Chinese. That applies to Chinese as well as English learning. Due to different means of expression between Chinese and English, so it won’t be an easy thing to translate Chinese reduplicated words into English appropriately. Via researching more about Chinese reduplicated words, I will put forward some basic and important translation ways and give further detailed analysis and summary. Through some analysis and research of relevant literature and materials, I will present some translation strategies and skills. By using these methods, we can express the meaning of Chinese reduplicated words accurately and make foreigners realize the beauty of these words.
