Abstract

With the continuous development and maturity of Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL), there are a sharp rising number of scholars and experts who invest in the study of it, especially the research of its ideational function, interpersonal function and textual function. Since scenic spot introduction as textual function plays an significant role in discourse analysis, this paper will chiefly use textual function to analyze scenic spot introduction at home and abroad. As to the thematic structure, two kind of introduction share many similar stylistic characteristics. There are a lot of simple themes and unmarked themes in introduction scenic spot introduction in American and China. And when it comes to thematic progression patterns, Chinese one contains quite a large amount of progressions with confused regularity, but in American scenic spot introduction, there are many different thematic progressions such as parallel, concentrated and continuous. As to the cohesion, both articles use many cohesive devices in order to make scenic spot introduction more coherent. All in all, from the analysis of thematic structure, thematic progression patterns and cohesion, this paper aims to improve the quality of translation of scenic spot introduction by analyzing context, cohesion and coherence, so as to promote the development of tourism and intercultural communication.

摘 要

随着系统功能语言学理论的不断发展和成熟，越来越多的研究者和专家们跻身于对其研究和探讨的行列中，尤其对概念功能、人际功能和语篇功能的研究。众所周知，在话语分析中旅游简介和语篇功能都扮演着重要的角色。本文主要应用语篇功能来分析中西方旅游简介的翻译。从主位结构分析我们可以看出，中西方旅游简介存在相似的文体特征，两者都从中存在大量的简单主位和无标记主位。通过对比分析主位推进模式，同美国旅游简介相比，中国旅游简介主位推进模式不明确，而美国旅游简介含有丰富的主位推进模式，包括平行放射型、聚合型、阶梯型。从语篇衔接角度的分析发现中美旅游简介都运用了大量的衔接手法，从而使文章更加通顺。通过对中西方旅游简介的主位结构、主位推进模式和语篇衔接的分析，本文旨在提高景点简介的翻译质量，使外国游客更容易理解旅游景点的简介从而促进旅游业的发展和文化的传播。

1 Introduction
With China's reform and her policy of opening to the outside world and the development of economy, tourism as a tertiary sector meets its rapid growth and prosperity with a global scale. As we all know, China is famous for its long history, unique customs and traditions, brilliant civilization, diverse culture and beautiful scenery, which arouses the great interest of the tourists and stimulates them to make a tour in China. Therefore, tourism becomes an important way to publicize Chinese culture. Not only governments but also companies can make great benefit from tourist industry.
