摘要

英语和汉语中都有大量与动物相关的习语，相似的动物习语中的文化内涵体现了民族文化的相似之处，不同的动物习语中的文化内涵体现了不同的民族特色。动物习语鲜明地体现了中国与英语国家在文化上存在的差异。动物习语包含着复杂的文化背景，并且也较难于翻译，因此在本文中作者从文化内涵的角度剖析了习语中的隐喻映射机制，并通过一些代表性的实例分析探讨了动物习语的不同翻译方法。

Abstract

As we all know, there are a large number of animal idioms both in Chinese and English. Those similar cultural connotations in animal idioms reflect the similarities in ethnic cultures. And those different cultural connotations in animal idioms represent the national features. Therefore, animal idioms evidently embody the cultural differences between China and English-speaking countries. We know that the translation of animal idioms requires the knowledge of the complex cultural backgrounds, so it is not an easy job. This paper aims to study the mechanism of metaphorical mapping theory in English animal idioms in terms of cultural connotations. And the author takes some representative examples to explore some translation methods.
