摘要

《德伯家的苔丝》和《边城》都是关于纯真、善良的乡村姑娘的爱情悲剧。当面对爱情的时候，她们都拥有一颗无私的心。但是命运的捉弄和无情的现实阻碍了她们爱情美梦的实现。她们的人物形象具有高度的典型性。苔丝被认为是19 世纪英国文学史上反传统的先驱，而翠翠被认为是20世纪中国传统女性的代表。 两部小说在相同的主题下呈现了不同的悲剧特征：《德伯家的苔丝》是一段轰轰烈烈的爱情悲剧，结局凄惨感人；而《边城》则是一段默默无声的爱情挽歌，结局发人深思。

Abstract

Tess of the d’Urbervilles and Border Town are both tragic stories about pure and beautiful country girls. Both of them have a selfless heart when they treat their love. However, the irony of fate and the crucial reality hinder the realization of their beautiful dreams. Their female images have a definite typicality. Tess is regarded as an anti-traditional forerunner in British literature in the 19th century while Cuicui is thought of as a typical representative of traditional Chinese women in the 20th century. The two novels express different tragic features under the same theme. Tess of the d’Urbervilles is a resounding love tragedy with a miserable and impressive ending while Border Town is a silent love elegy with a thought -provoking ending.
