Translation Of “Schumpeter”Articles From The Perspective Of Functional Equivalence

摘要

“熊彼特”作为《经济学人》的专栏，其文章主要关于可为现代社会广泛使用的商业概念和观点。此专栏成立时间仅八年，相关的专业研究还不够丰富，但其文章质量之佳，观点之先进，已吸引并将继续吸引无数翻译界人士。因此，本文运用奈达的功能对等理论来举例阐释该专栏四篇中译文章中凸显的六种翻译技巧，即解包袱法、词性转换法、词义引申法、增词法、减词法及正话反说法。除功能对等理论外，本文还对奈达提出的解包袱法进行了分析。解包袱法虽是一个较新的概念，但掌握此方法定会为译员在面对翻译难题时提供灵感。

Abstract

As one column of The Economist, Schumpeter’s articles mainly relate to business concepts and ideas which can be widely used in the modern world. Since this column was established only 8 years ago, related professional researches are not abundant. However, the quality and cutting-edge ideas of its articles have attracted and will continue to attract a plenty of translators. Therefore, this paper selects four translated texts of this column to illustrate six kinds of translating skills, namely, unpacking, conversion, extension, addition, omission and negation from the perspective of Nida’s functional equivalence. Besides functional equivalence, “Unpacking”, one translation skill put forward by Nida, is a relatively new concept but has also been analyzed in this paper, in the hope of inspiring translators to solve the challenges they meet if they can master it.
