A Feminist Reading of Little Women

摘要

19世纪的美国人的思想正在遭受巨大的冲击，许多美国女性开始走出家门，追求独立与自己的梦想。《小妇人》正是在这种背景下诞生的一部女性主义文学作品。小说中描写了四姐妹勇敢追求自身的梦想，并在追求的过程中完善自己的过程。作为女性主义文学的代表作，研究小说中的女性主义思想不仅可以加深对这部作品的理解，还能为现代的中国女性带来启发。本文以小妇人中的女性主义思想为研究课题，通过综合分析与参考文献的研究手段，得出了结论：《小妇人》体现了作者奥尔科特的独特女性观：女性应该追求有尊严的爱情， 勇于实现自己的梦想以及完善自身。这也为当代女性带来启发：在工作中应当学会追求经济的独立和自己的梦想，在家庭中应当实现男女平等的地位。

Abstract

In the 19th century, American people were suffering great shocks in their concepts. Many American women have gone out to the society and pursued for independence and their own dreams. The Little Women as a feminism literary work was born under this background. The novel has described the four daughters bravely pursue for their dreams and perfect themselves in the process. As a representative work of feminism literature, to research on the feminist ideas in this novel can not only deepen readers’ comprehension to this novel, but also bring some enlightenment to modern females. Therefore this thesis takes the feminism in Little Women as research topic, by comprehensive analysis and literature reference, this thesis has drawn a conclusion, that Little Women has reflected Alcott’s own feminism viewpoint: women should pursue for love with esteem, fulfill their dreams bravely and perfect themselves. This has also brought enlightenment to modern female: they should pursue economic independence and fulfill their dreams in professions and realize a male-female equal status.
