Abstract

With the development of globalization and the reform and opening up, China has improved its overall national strength and international status, thus has more and more contacts and communication with foreign countries. In this process, the Chinese-English translation plays a vital role in exchanging ideas with the whole world, as English is a universal language, increasingly finding its popularity and acceptance in other countries. However, in the translation practice, some translators just rigidly stick to the original words and their translation turns out to be abstract and hard to understand. This is the so-called “Chinglish”, which, with its own features, is systematic and not easy for Chinese learners to avoid it. This phenomenon has a negative effect on both showing Chinese culture and absorbing western culture.
In this thesis, the author probes into the main theories employed in this study, et contrastive analysis and language transfer. And he also attempts to define the term of Chinglish, and makes a contrastive analysis of Chinglish in the following three aspects: linguistic contrastive analysis including lexicon and syntax; social culture and thinking modes. Then on the basis of the analysis, the author puts forward the following strategies to ward off Chinglish phenomenon: increasing input, adopting back-translation method, cultivating bicultural competence and transferring modes of thinking.

摘要

随着中国的快速发展，与世界在文化，经济和政治上的交流合作日趋频繁。英语作为世界语言，起着信息交流的角色作用。而汉英翻译，在推动国际间的政治、经济、文化等方面的相互学习、交流和借鉴上发挥着重要的作用，逐渐被世界所接受。然而在翻译过程中，存在一个不争的事实：有些英语学习者过于拘泥于原文字句，措辞不符合英语的习惯用法，带有明显的汉语痕迹，使得译文阅读性不高，这就是“中式英语”现象。语法上的正确增加了英语学习者规避“中式英语”的难度。“中式英语”现象不仅影响了中国文化的传播，西方文化也很难被借鉴。
基于此，作者运用对比分析理论和语言迁移理论，清楚地区分中式英语的定义，从多角度探讨“中式英语”这一现象，分析成因及表现。通过对语言本身，文化层面和中西方思维模式层面的分析，提出规避中式英语的根本对策：扩大英语摄入，选择适当的翻译方法，增加跨文化知识以及思维方式的转换。
