摘要：

本文就《红楼梦》中“笑道”的翻译对杨宪益与霍克斯的两英译本进行对比。通过分析比较大量“笑道”的实例以及统计数据，结合归化与异化翻译策略，总结并对比了两种译本关于“笑道”的翻译各自使用的策略方法的不同与优劣。最后通过比较二者对于“笑道”翻译所体现出人物情感，心理及地位的不同进一步总结出二者对于《红楼梦》中“笑道”翻译效果的优劣。

Abstract:

This paper focuses on the comparison on translation of “xiaodao” between two translation versions of Hong Lou Meng respectively by Yang Hsien-yi and David Hawkes. By analyzing vast examples and data, with two strategies which are foreignization and domestication, the methods and effect of translating “xiaodao” will be contrasted. Meanwhile, through comparing the emotions, psychologies and statues of characters embodied by the translation, the translating effect will be further appraised .
