Abstract
The paper attempts to analyze the features of subtitling by using the latest language material---The Big Bang Theory, which is in vogue in the U.S. or even around the whole world. On the basis of subtitling and domestication and with the source of subtitling from “YYeTs” (one leading subtitling group in China) and origin subtitling, the analysis, description and conclusion are conducted on the characteristics of subtitling. Now that there is limited research on subtitling or even few researches on the analysis of subtitling of an American sitcom from a domestication view, this paper may supply a number of raw materials for subtitling.

本文利用最新的语料——日前正在热播的美国情景喜剧《生活大爆炸》为研究对象，以字幕翻译和归化理论为基础，以人人影视字幕组翻译的字幕和原始英文字幕为语料来源，对其字幕翻译的特点进行了分析研究，归纳描述。由于目前对字幕翻译的研究仍然有限，从归化的角度分析一部美剧的字幕翻译更是少之又少，本文为字幕翻译研究提供了新的素材。

1 Introduction
1.1 Research Background
Nowadays, people are living in a world featured with globalization, intercultural communications and the continuous development of economy and technology. Cultures, from different countries with different history and backgrounds have entered and strongly affected people’s daily lives. As one of the most critical means of cultural communication, movies and TV series have also played an increasingly important role in English learning for students and other individuals. According to Lonergan (1984), “the outstanding feature of video films is their ability to present complete situations. The combination of sound and vision is dynamic, immediate and accessible. This means that communication can be shown in a context, and many factors in communication can be easily perceived by language learners.”
