摘 要

   英语在全球化的同时,也有明显的本土化倾向。英语语言的发展很好地证明了这一点。当今中国,随着改革开放,与外国交流机会越来越多,怎样用英语来充分表达中国本土文化,做到既表形更达意成为了主要研究课题。英语中国化既要考虑英语的基本读音、基本词汇和语法习惯,更要考虑汉语的特点和中国文化的传统,两者不能偏废。本文以林语堂先生的《京华烟云》作为研究对象和翻译参考,从翻译的互文性角度,研究《京华烟云》的翻译痕迹,并从翻译的异化角度,详细阐述中国文化的翻译技巧。

ABSTRACT

Nowadays English is becoming more and more internationalized, and it has an obvious tendency towards localization. The development of English has been proved this point strongly. At present, along with the reforming and opening-up in China, foreign exchange opportunities are immense. How to use English which not only suitable in form but could express the implication to fully express Chinese native culture? It becomes a pressing research topic to deal with. English sincization must consider the basic English vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation, while the Chinese local character and the traditional Chinese culture cannot be ignored. In this essay it took Lin Yutang’s masterpiece Moment in Peking as a example to study. Study the trace of translation from the point of intertextuality, and learn the translation skill of Chinese culture from the point of foreignization.

Chapter 1 Introduction
1.1 Lifetime
Lin Yutang(October 10, 1895-March 26, 1976) was a Chinese writer and investor, who was born in the town of Banzai, Pinghe, Zhangzhou, Fujian. His informal but polished style in both Chinese and English made him one of the most influential writers of his generation.
Lin studied for his bachelor’s degree at Saint John’s University in Shanghai. When he graduated from St. John’s in 1916, Lin accepted a teaching post at Qinghua College in Beijing. Lin taught at Qinghua for three years, and then continued study for a doctoral degree at Harvard University. He left Harvard early however, moving to France and eventually to Germany, where he completed his requirements for a doctoral degree at the University of Leipzig. After getting the doctor degree, Lin came back China, then teaching in Peking University, Peking Normal University, Xiamen University, and Dongwu University. After 1936, he moved to U.S, and then began to writing English novels, which were best of his creative work, and founded the status in the literary world. In 1966, he moved from America to Taiwan, then moved to Hong Kong in 1976. Lin passed away in Hong Kong on March 26 in 1976. Lin considered his dictionary to be the ‘Crown’ of his career. To anyone who reads his works, it will be apparent that Lin Yutang’s crown had many jewels in it.
