Abstract:

Professor Zhang Peiji is a famous contemporary Chinese translator , he has been devoted to the career of translation without claiming for fame or vanity in the past 50 odd years and making outstanding contributions to the study on translation in China. When reading Professor Zhang’s works, we are more than surprised to find classic negative sentences everywhere and can’t help gasping with admiration at the superb skill of Professor Zhang in translation.
In terms of expressing negative concepts, there are some differences in vocabulary, grammar, logic and others between Chinese and English. To the expression of concept of negative sentences in English, there are direct explicit negation and indirect implicit negation. Sometimes in order to be able to express the original meaning of source language better, translators would rather choose to paraphrase the text at the cost of abandoning the original rhetorical devices. Sometimes literal translation applied in order to be loyal to the original will inevitably lead to incomprehensible expression which making their translations amazing. Based on the differences between Chinese and English, the existing translation skills of negative sentences, translation skills of typical negative sentences in The Selected Modern Chinese Prose WritingsⅠ-Ⅳ, this thesis will analyze and summarize all the existing achievements mainly by means of literature study, namely by means of referring to theory books and web resources to collect relevant information for integration, and have a general knowledge of the translation of negative sentences in The Selected Modern Chinese Prose WritingsⅠ-Ⅳ.

摘要：

张培基教授是我国当代著名翻译家,投身译苑默默耕耘五十余载,为中华民族的翻译研究做出了卓著的贡献.纵观张教授的译品,其中经典否定句更是俯拾皆是，译出来的效果更是让人不禁赞叹。
汉英语言在表达否定概念时使用的词汇手段、语法手段、甚至逻辑思维等方面都有差异，就英语否定句的概念表达形式而言，有直接的的显性否定，也有委婉的隐性表达。有时为了能较好地表达原文的意思，译者选择了意译从而丧失了原文所表达出来的修辞手法。有时为了忠于原文而直译难免会造成不知所云。本文立足英汉两种语言的差异、已有的否定句翻译技巧、《英译中国现代散文选Ⅰ –Ⅳ》典型否定句翻译的方法以及应对方法。主要通过文献法，即借助理论书籍和网络资源对于相关资料进行收集整合，对于已有的研究成果进行分析和总结，对于当前否定句翻译领域的研究现状有大致了解。然后结合自身的翻译实践，提出自己的看法与观点，以期对今后否定句方面的研究做出一定贡献。
