摘要:

经济全球化的背景下,为了更好地参与国际竞争与合作,越来越多的中国企业有了英文版网站。银行业作为市场经济的重要支柱产业,对于拉动经济增长,维护社会稳定有重要作用。然而,由于英汉两种语言的不同文化背景,银行业英文网站普遍存在各种翻译问题。本论文以功能目的论为指导,通过调查中国工商银行英文网站的语言翻译,分析英汉两种语言在不同文化背景下的翻译特点和方法。并结合翻译理论对网站的英文版建设提出建议,全面提高网站英文版的翻译质量,发挥其对外交流的良好作用。

Abstract:

Under the background of economic globalization, more and more Chinese enterprises have established English website for the purpose of participating in international cooperation and competition. The banking industry as a pillar industry of the market economy, plays an important role in stimulating economic growth and maintaining social stability. However, due to the different cultural background in English and Chinese, there are generally a lot of translation errors in the English website of banking. Guided by the Skopostheorie, this paper, through the investigation of language quality of ICBC English website, is trying to analyze two languages’ translation characteristics and methods under different cultural background. In addition, based on theory of translation, this paper also wants to put forward constructive suggestion, improve the quality of English website comprehensively and make it work in stimulating international communication.

1. Introduction
With the speeding up of economic globalization and the development of Internet economy, a lot of Chinese enterprises have witnessed great bilingual websites increase in recent years, in order to participate in the International competition and cooperation. An accurate and effective English website benefits enterprises a lot from providing necessary information for overseas clients, setting up good business images, and expanding overseas markets. Meanwhile, as the pillar industry of International economy, banking plays an important role in market economy. Therefore, a diversity of researches have been conducted on the English website of banking during the past decades. 
Due to the ignorance of cultural difference, discourse structure difference and translators’ skills and quality, there are a lot of translating mistakes on banking English websites. As a result, it may cause in-equivalent information or even cause misunderstanding to overseas clients, which will seriously damage to cooperates images and cause huge economic loss. In addition, there is lots of paper about banking from so many different aspects, while the study of the translation quality of the website is few. All in all, it is quite evident that more and more attention should be paid to the language quality of banking English websites.
